Thanks for visiting and congratulations on your pregnancy!
My name is Jane Clement. I am a Doula trained by Nurturing Birth, and I believe that I can support mums and their families, before, during and after the delivery of their precious bundle. I will meet you twice before your due date, to answer any questions you may have and to help ease any worries. I will help you to prepare for your birth and also to write your birth plan
I will then attend your birth with you, in a non medical support role, throughout the experience.
I can then also offer help afterwards, with many things, light housework, care of other children, shopping, cooking, giving you time to look after yourself and your baby or just allowing you to take a nap!
With the right knowledge, every woman should be able to have a positive birth experience, and a fully supported post natal period.
A Doula is a woman who has a lot of experience and knowledge of birth and child care who gives support, both emotional and practical, to a woman and her family, before, during and after delivery.
A Doulas support is completely non medical, and involves verbal and physical support during this time.
Research has shown that having a Doula at a Birth:
Shortens first time labour by an average of 2 hours
Decreases the chance of Caesarean section by 50%
Decreases the need for pain medication
Helps fathers to participate with confidence
Increases success with breastfeeding
